Research Profile

Laboratory based research has, and is, being pursued in the general field of inorganic coordination chemistry, with particular emphasis on the chemistry associated with macrocyclic ligands and their application to the understanding of aspects of supramolecular chemistry and the chemistry of chemical sensors.

The outcome of this research has been described in about 75 publications appearing, or accepted to appear, in internationally refereed scientific journals (see list). In addition, about 50 conference presentations, mostly described in unrefereed conference abstracts have been made. In 1997 and again in 2001 I was invited to write major reviews describing some of my contributions to the advancement of coordination chemistry.

This work has been funded by research grants from the Science and Engineering Research Council (UK), the Australian Research Council, the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Australia) and Flinders University.

To date six PhD students and two MSc students have completed their degrees under my supervision, three PhD students and one MSc students are currently being supervised.
